In addition to the historic buildings, Opa-locka has a large general aviation airport (Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport), three parks, two lakes and a railroad station. The City is comprised of a mixture of residential, commercial and industrial zones. Despite its limited resources, the City was the backdrop for the movies Texas Justice, Bad Boyz II and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Amazon opened a fulfillment center in 2018 adjacent to the airport. It is the size of 14 football fields and employs more than 1,000 people.
